Anniversary Weekend

What fun we had this weekend in Salt Lake with most of the adult family, only Clorinda, Dani, Pete and Tara were missing.  We went to the temple and enjoyed the live performance there.  There is an amazing spirit that comes while watching the live actors... they do an incredible job.

Following the temple we ran through the wind to the hotel so Sara and Jay and Jim and John could all register for their rooms.  Amy had watched the baby boys and they had given her a rough time so they were crying.  The wind blowing didn't help and Sara and I moved as quickly as possible to get them to some warmth... and of course feed them.  People were laughing as we hurried past.  Anyway we got checked in and babies fed and then we just hung out until we headed to the Joseph Smith building for dinner at the roof.  We had a room to our selves with a huge round table.  It was great fun with everyone trying things from buffalo to creme brulee. John sampled 20 out of 26 desserts and loved every minute of it.  We had a great waiter named Stephen who took pictures of us and served us well.

After dinner we went back to the hotel for swimming.  We enjoyed the pool - it was warm!  We also dried off in the sauna which made it nice to get back to the room without freezing to death.

Sunday morning we went to the Tabernacle to hear the Choir and the Spoken Word.  We all found Cal Simmons in the middle of the sixth row up.  It was a powerful experience to hear the Choir in the Tabernacle.  The BYU singers also participated and it was a wonderful time.  After that we went to Laura's complex and enjoyed a nice lunch she had prepared complete with octopus - most of us passed on trying it including Amy who had Laura buy it.  Most of the gang left for home following the lunch but a few of us went back to Laura's house and talked, watched AFV and had more food!

Monday Dad and I got to Ikea where we bought some great red shelves and also from Standard Restaurant got a great oven and proofer plus a set of bread shelves.  Things are starting to come together for our cafe!  We also went to Rodworks where we found ribbon holders and got ideas for a counter and for ways to hang bags and tissue.  looking good!

Last night we ended our great weekend with Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat which was put on by some Cedar City youth.  It was darling.  Joseph was just a little 9 or 10 year old kid and there were four girls narrating.  It wasn't professional by any means but the efforts were certainly appreciated.  Ben and Connies two daughters were in it, Kadie Norton was Judah, the Espinoza kids were also there with Chelly playing the butler!  So fun.

So I am writing this instead of dusting the store which I must now do.  I pulled my back out over the weekend and will be going to see Dr. Murie this afternoon.  Jim gave me a blessing yesterday which helped a lot but I am still in a sufficient amount of pain and hope the Dr. can help me.

This week we should start clearing out and moving in over at the new store.  There is a lot to be done!  We still need a toaster, grill and two burner stove plus several stainless tables and a triple sink.  We are excited to pull everything together.

Back again

Well I went to write on my blog this morning and it vanished.  John just spent an hour getting my blogspot back up.  I think I have lost a few posts but that is better than all of them.  Have no idea why they would come by and just eliminate everything.

We have had some good news this week.  The building across the street is now ours - lease for 12 months and then buy at an option.  It is really quite exciting and since we are getting so crowded here, I think the place across the street will be great.  We also got a message from Gary Crum this morning that says he is still interested in selling us the house.  We are debating on that right now... Twila's "supposed" buyers never happened (hmmm) seems like she did that to us too.  Well, I would like it but now with the the new building we'll have to see if things come together... like money.

We are headed to Salt Lake for our anniversary party this weekend.  It should be very fun with most of the kids and their spouses there.  Wish Pete could come but the rest of them will be there and that will be great.

We went to Milts on Saturday  and then to Jay and Sara's on Sunday for dinner and celebration.  We also spent Saturday treasure hunting and found some great things in St. George.  We definitely are running out of room but we need to have things of interest to put in the new space.  I feel strongly that the Lord is blessing us so much. I know it is because we chose to pay our tithing in December and that has helped us through these next month with payments from clients, new clients, and back bills to us paid.  What a gift.

We are now going to have alot of work to do - especially if we move from both places.

Since my last blogs were lost I might mention about Shey's birthday party last week which was so nicely done by her mom.  It was a rainbow party with eveything in colors including layered color cupcakes with blue sky frosting and a candy rainbow attached with cloud frosting.  colored rainbow games, pizza designed to look like a rainbow, colored fruit skewers, skittle candies, taffys - you name it.  It was fun to watch Laura and Nigel put on this party so creatively.  I was impressed with both of them and how good they were with 20 children!  It was great fun and a fun weekend as well.  Glad Jim could come up and be with us as well.

Please publish

I have put the last 4 or 5 posts on the family blog.  I will have to ask Amy to help me move them over.  In the meantime I am pleased that I have been able to get to the point where I could put this post on Oldies but goodies.  Not that I have a lot to say but I just kept wondering where my last posts have gone.

I am about ready to fall asleep here - it is my nap time but actually more time has past than I thought and I just have another 1 hour and a quarter to work here at the shop.  Hoping that we get a few people in these next few minutes.  We are going to close the store on Mondays and Tuesdays now for the rest of winter.  I hope that lets up a little bit on expenses.  I also have to pay for the consignors tomorrow so I hope there is enough money in the til to pay for them.

Made some creative windows this morning and hope to make a couple of wreaths tomorrow.  Now if someone would come in and see them!  Sold one of my favorite pieces this morning to Connie Burrows.  Interestingly she loves brass and she bought a brass bell that I thought was so charming.  Good for you Connie.  Perhaps she'll come in again.

Had a meeting today about the shop and getting it moving.  I am hoping to focus on the new larger shop but keep this running at the same time.  I think we could sell things better if they could be better displayed.  Susan and Richard's things etc.  I need to work on our write-ups about them for the on-line store.  I was hard on Jim about the on-line stuff but it seems like for years we have been working on this stuff and nothing comes to fruition and yet it has cost a lot of money and time.  If everyone else makes it at these things why not us?

three things:
1.  I am good no matter where I serve as long as I am serving well.
2.  I am grateful that I am feeling better - I was really dragging for a few weeks and so darn emotional, but things seem to be getting better.
3.  I plan to get on top of things now that I am feeling better.  Coming along on Laura's book and hope to see it finished by Monday at the latest.  It is so fun to do these books and recall great memories.
